ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY EROTIC IVORY CARVED CARD CASE HOLDER
Presented here, a rare antique visiting/calling card case made in Ivory and masterfully handcarved to show what can be called "a fun" erotic scene consisting in an archery competition in what looks like the Tyrolean countryside. The case cover shows a regular scene of archery competition between two elegant gentile couples in the foreground. Other couples can be noticed at the background, near a tent. A stately home is at the very bottom of the whole gentle scene.
At the back side of the Ivory case, conversely, the handcarved scene becomes much more daring: in a clear forecase, there are a detailed carving of a couple who decided to use their time in a more pleasureable way, creatively using as a target the bottoms of a lady, while the lucky young gentleman seems to do his best in order to reach it. Obviously, the backside of the card case is only visible for the owner, as only the cover could be easily seen by people around.
A rare example of end-of-Century erotic art in visiting card cases, the perfect addition to any outstanding collection of ivory or case holders for gentlemen, as well as any antique erotic collection of personal items for Gents.
